I just got back from a 3 day stay at my sweetheart's home in Michigan. If you had not read my previous blogs, maybe you don't know that she has taken full guardianship of 3 of her grandchildren as of April 2009. Sadly, their parents can't get along and both have issues that make them unfit parents. Anyway, I was there for Christina's sixth birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. This no doubt was one of the happiest days of her life. I admit, my eyes watered up just looking at her as she viewed the long table reserved just for her and her family and friends. Talk about a job...just keeping an eye on a hand full of kids running around playing all the games they have to play. Hey. some of them are fun for us adults too. I had a ball. Especially winning tickets for Christina and her sisters. The tickets can be redeemed for small toys, candy and other fun things kids like. If you have small children or grand kids, I recommend having a birthday party for them at Chuck E. Cheese. For that matter, just take them for an afternoon of fun even if it's not their birthday. The food's not half bad either.
Needless to say, it was great to see all the girls since they have adopted me as their grandpa! I am really honored. I have fallen in love with each one of them. But that was easy since they are blood family to the woman I love with all my heart. Now, they are all my family. I could not be happier. Well yes I could. I could be there everyday to help raise them. They are a handful for Katarina...needless to say since they are ages 4, 6 and 8. And if that's not enough, Katarina babysits her newest grandchild. He is a perfect baby boy that brings much joy to not only Katarina, but to the girls as well. I finally got to see him in person and hold him. I was in Michigan watching the girls while Katarina was with her daughter in the delivery room. I never go to see him since I was the grandpa that had to watch the girls while Nana was in the hospital with him and his mother...her youngest daughter. So my brief stay full with the girls, Aidan, his mother Ashley and a brief hello to Aidan's daddy Jerome. Oh yeah, and with the one woman that owns my heart, Katarina. Also known as the Big Momma.
I even managed to get some things fixed for them. The garbage disposal, the broken shower head, a clogged sink. cut the grass and helped clean out the garage. Still some things left to do. But that is saved for the next visit as soon as I can take the time to be there.
